William Harding (1720-1798) of Stafford County Virginia. Two marriages: first to Elizabeth Ashby c.1740 (likely producing Joseph Hardin of Loudoun, b. ~1751); second to Clarissa 'Clarkey' Million c.1760 Overwharton Parish (producing Mark Hardin 1788, Benjamin Hardin 1753 the DAR Patriot, and many others). Critically, the HHH Y-DNA Project identified him as the common patriarchal ancestor of Joseph Hardin Loudoun + Mark Hardin + Benjamin Hardin (all match genetic distance 0). Even more critically, the HHH project identified a non-paternity event one generation up: William Harding was the natural son of Joseph Combs Sr. (c.1670-1756) of Aquia Creek Stafford VA by an unknown Harding woman.
